Management Assistant
The Housing Authority of the City of Rocky Mount (RMHA) is seeking an experienced and innovative candidate for the position of Management Assistant at the Weeks Armstrong Community (WAH). RMHA has 756 conventional Public Housing units and 320 Section 8 Rental Assistance.
Description of Work: The individual in this position will be responsible for assisting in managerial and administrative work involving the management and operation of Agency properties, as well as assist with the recertification process. The Management Assistant is responsible for the Agency receiving at least a satisfactory rating concerning HUD agency scoring systems such as Public Housing Assessment System (PHAS) and other future HUD required evaluation systems. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting the Property Manager with administering and managing the Authority's Conventional Public Housing Program in assigned community(s), which include the physical and social aspects of the housing development. The Management Assistant is responsible for interviewing, investigating and verifying the incomes of household composition, to determine eligibility of residents for continued occupancy. Under general supervision, provides direct clerical and administrative support to the Property Manager. Conducts such duties as typing, maintaining filing and office systems, answering incoming calls, performing housing inspections, handling court cases, counseling, and perform all other job duties as outlined in the job description. Reports directly to the Property Manager. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid N. C. Driver's License. Salary commensurate with background and experience.
Education and Experience: Associate degree in Social Work, Public Administration, or closely related field from an accredited college or university desired. Three (3) years of Property Management experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
The following Certifications must be obtained within one (1) year of employment or other allowable period of hire as authorized by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or his/her designee:
- Public Housing Manager
- Rent Calculation
- Occupancy Specialist
- Fair Housing
- Enterprise Income Verification System (EIV)
